Terms & Conditions

What you can expect from Skanota, and what we expect from you.

This is a draft. It was written from what the software actually does, but it has not been reviewed by a lawyer. If you need a binding answer about your data or your money, write to us and we will give you one in writing.

This Agreement

By creating an account you agree to these terms. If you do not agree to them, do not use the service.

These terms are governed by Indonesian law.

Your Account

One person, one account. Keep your password to yourself, and tell us if you think somebody else has it.

You are responsible for what happens on your account. If you sign in on a device you do not control, sign it out again from the settings page.

What the Service Does

Skanota reads a photograph of a receipt and turns it into a record you can search, categorise and export. It counts each reading against your plan's monthly allowance.

It is a record-keeping tool. It is not an accountant, and it does not file anything with anybody on your behalf.

Acceptable Use

Upload receipts. Do not upload anything illegal, anything that is not yours to upload, or anything designed to attack the service or the people who run it.

Do not resell scans, share one account between a team, or automate the interface to work around your plan's allowance. The Fair Use Policy sets out the limits per plan and what happens when they are exceeded.

Plans and Prices

The plans, their prices and their monthly scan allowances are on the pricing page and are the authoritative version. Prices are in Indonesian rupiah and include any tax we are required to charge.

Larger volumes and company invoicing are arranged with us directly rather than bought from the site.

We may change prices. An existing subscription keeps its price until the end of the period you have paid for.

Paying

Payments are handled by Midtrans. You leave our site to pay and come back when you are done; we never see your card or wallet credentials.

Your plan changes when Midtrans tells us the money has arrived — not when you press the button. If you have paid and your plan has not changed within a few minutes, the payment history on your subscription page will show what we know, and the order reference there is what to quote us.

A subscription covers one month or one year from the moment it is activated. It does not renew automatically today: when the period ends, you go back to the free plan and can pay again.

What Happens When a Paid Period Ends

A plan bought from 29 August 2026 runs for the period you paid for. When that period ends the account returns to Free, and we email you a week before it does.

A plan bought before that date does not expire. Nothing was taken away from anyone who had already paid: those subscriptions are marked as not renewing, and no sweep touches them. Two accounts on the same plan can therefore be on different terms, and that is deliberate — we would rather explain this paragraph than change what you bought after you bought it.

Nothing charges you again. There is no stored card and no automatic renewal, so carrying on means buying again from your subscription page.

Extra scans you bought separately are never lost. They are not part of a plan's period and they survive a downgrade, an expiry and a plan change.

Changing Plans

Moving to a larger plan requires a payment.

Moving to a smaller plan, or back to the free plan, you can do yourself at any time, with no payment and without asking us. It takes effect immediately.

Scans you have already used stay used when you change plans. Switching plans does not refill your allowance.

Refunds

We do not currently offer automatic refunds, and there is no refund button.

If something has gone wrong — you were charged twice, or charged for a plan you did not receive — write to us with the order reference from your payment history and we will sort it out. We would rather fix a genuine mistake than argue about it.

Moving to a smaller plan part-way through a period does not refund the difference.

We Do Not Guarantee the Reading Is Correct

The merchant, date, total and items are read from your photograph by an automatic system. It is usually right and it is sometimes wrong, particularly on faded, creased or badly lit receipts.

Every field is editable for that reason. Check the numbers before you rely on them.

If you use Skanota for tax or for a reimbursement claim, the responsibility for the figures being right is yours. Keep your original receipts.

Availability

We try to keep the service up and we do not promise a particular level of uptime. There is no service level agreement, on any plan.

We may take the service down for maintenance, and we may change or remove features. If we remove something you are paying for, tell us and we will make it right.

Liability

To the extent the law allows, our liability to you is limited to what you have paid us in the twelve months before the problem.

Nothing here limits liability we are not permitted to limit — including for death, personal injury, or our own fraud.

Ending It

You can stop using Skanota whenever you like. Deleting your account is currently something you ask us to do; see the Privacy Policy.

We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms or the Fair Use Policy. Unless the reason makes it impossible, we will tell you first and give you a chance to export your data.

Governing Law

Indonesian law governs these terms, and the courts of Indonesia have jurisdiction over any dispute.

Nothing here removes a right the law gives you as a consumer.
